Hyderabad – 22 December, 2025
Hyderabad-based XDLINX Space Labs has announced the expansion of its operations through an agreement with the GMR Group to establish a state-of-the-art satellite research and development facility at GMR Aerospace Park, Hyderabad. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s ambition to develop niche technologies, qualify advanced systems, and serve global satellite customers over the long term, while contributing to the growth of India’s space economy.
The upcoming facility, spread across 60,000 sq. ft., will house advanced laboratories and capabilities, including:
- A 10,000 sq. ft. cleanroom for Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of nano to micro satellites
- Optical Payload Metrology Lab for characterisation and calibration
- State-of-the-art laboratories to qualify RF, thermal, structural, communication, and power systems
- Facilities to house critical equipment for environmental, testing and physical measurements
- Advanced labs for developing next-generation avionics, sensors, actuators and payloads
The facility is expected to be operational by 2027.
“This facility is a strategic investment that reflects our long-term vision of building reliable, affordable, and sovereign space capabilities, as space increasingly becomes critical national and global infrastructure,” said Mr Rupesh Gandupalli, CEO, XDLINX Space Labs.
The centre will initially focus on advanced research and development and is expected to support multiple satellite missions by leveraging India’s growing private manufacturing ecosystem and rising to global demands for agile satellite solutions.
“The global shift from a few large satellites to constellations of smaller satellites, which are more capable, is well underway. New use cases across the civil and strategic areas are emerging continuously. Research and innovation are the only ways to address these growing technical challenges. This facility is expected to enable the lab-level qualification and scaling of such opportunities utilising the space ecosystem to serve both local and global customers,” said Mr N. Sudheer Kumar, Vice President – Global Strategy, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations, XDLINX Space Labs.
At the systems level, XDLINX is working towards developing satellite architectures and platforms that operate as interconnected networks, enabling direct data sharing, reduced dependence on ground stations, and faster, more resilient mission operations. The facility will also support the development of onboard intelligence and advanced data processing capabilities, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver large and complex missions using smaller, highly capable satellite platforms.
Through this initiative, XDLINX Space Labs aims to further strengthen India’s position as a global satellite manufacturing hub, delivering reliable solutions with shorter lead times to customers worldwide.
